5 Unconventional Ways to Make Your Corporate Event Memorable

Hosting a memorable corporate event is everything in business. Your guests can have a lot of fun and a very enjoyable evening, but if they don’t remember much about it the next day, then your event will do nothing for your cause. If you want to make sure that people remember you in future, you need to make your corporate event as memorable as possible, and there are some easy ways to embed yourself, and your company, in other people’s minds.

Give attendees unusual gifts

We’ve all been to corporate events where keyrings, pens and magnets are handed out – these are useful to have and a nice way to circulate your logo but do they make a big enough impact to create a buzz around your conference? If you’re going to give your guests a gift, give them something that will really make them remember you.

If you can think of something appropriate to your company or organisation – that’s great. If not, don’t worry; anything unique and fun will do. Why not try handing out unique, branded Lego items, free pic’n’mix named after your speakers and sponsors or even branded iPads for premium attendees? You don’t have to spend a fortune if your budget is tight; just choose something that your guests will like and remember.

Make a signature cocktail to mark your corporate event

This one is simple, and won’t cost you a thing. You can consult a drinks expert if you need a little help, or simply experiment in your own kitchen. A little cointreau, some rum, and fruit juice… whatever you like! Try to name your cocktail something fitting for your corporate event, and make a few branded signs advertising it near the bar. If you’re feeling flush, why not offer all of your guests a company cocktail on the house?

Promote a Twitter hashtag

Twitter is a fantastic way to get people excited and talking about your corporate event. The more Twitter followers you have, the more effective your Twitter #hashtag attempts will be, and you can make sure that attendees know your Twitter stream before the event – perhaps include it on the invitations. Twitter can help you to keep your attendees up to date with all the latest news about your event, and it will create a real buzz around it, too. The hashtag will help promote your event to followers of your followers once they start tweeting using it. It also makes it easy for people to follow up to date news about the event, with all the tweets using the hashtag viewable in a single stream. Keep the hashtag active, and your corporate event will be talked about in every corner of your industry in no time.

You may also set up a photo booth with a striking backdrop to encourage your attendees to post their photos online with your event hashtag.

Launch an App for the Event

This one is not as tricky as it sounds. No, you don’t have to hire your own freelance software developer to launch an app for your event; all you have to do is sign up to simple services like those provided by Bloodhound and Guidebook, and you can then not only have your event on a database of corporate events, but you can host all the details and information that your guests might need on this app. Not only does it make life easier for your guests – which is something that, trust me, they will appreciate – but it shows how progressive your company is. Embrace technology!

Choose an Unusual Venue

Go beyond the hotel conference room when it comes to choosing the venue for your corporate event. There’s nothing wrong with a hotel conference room – they’re spacious, smart, and easy to organise events in – but there’s also nothing very memorable about them, either. If you think you can feel fairly confident of good weather on the day of your corporate event, why not consider hosting it outdoors? Marquee tents are cheap and easy to set up, and a sunny summer party will be enjoyed by everyone. Otherwise, bars, restaurant or even museums might provide a slightly more lively atmosphere than hotel conference rooms.

  9. The signature drink is nice touch! Cheers! 🙂 I am a fan of creating a special Twitter hashtag for the event, if you have a social media plan in place. You have to plan ahead of the event, during the event and after the event.
